A Texas gulf coast importer requested Box conduct a Preliminary Feasibility Study and facility assessment for the development of a marine based cement terminal to address cement shortages due to Hurricane Katrina.
 
Feasibility Study and Raw Material Analysis 
Box International conducted a feasibility study regarding a Greenfield cement plant to be developed in Mongolia. Box determined the adequacy and suitability of a large limestone raw material deposit intended to be the primary source of raw materials for the new plant. The study by Box included a quarry development plan, a transportation study, designed and supervised the bore hole drilling campaign, core samples and analysis.
 
Due Diligence & Transactional Support
A large Iraq based construction and electrical utility company requested Box International act as technical and transactional advisor regarding a lease and plant upgrade program along with production sharing arrangements to be entered into with the Government of Iraq for plants located in Sinjar and Karbala Iraq.
 
Training and Development 
Box International was requested by the US Portland Cement Association, (PCA) to develop and provide a Training Program on behalf of a US cement manufacturing company to cement company in the Midwestern US. The Program included lecture series, oral and written examinations with skills development progress reports and post training follow up.
 
Feasibility Study
Box International was selected by the Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Industries to conduct a Feasibility Study of the cement sector involving domestic and international cement supply to support reconstruction and development efforts supported by the US Trade and Development Agency. The study included the assessment of plant site locations, coal and limestone deposits, market conditions, and made recommendations to the Afghan and US government regarding developmental initiatives and priorities for the Afghan cement sector.
 
Plant Assessment
Box was requested to provide site assessment reports of cement plant facilities to identify potential facility upgrade opportunities throughout the country of Iraq. The study was to determine solutions regarding the elimination of explosives for quarry operations, developing power to supply plant operations and ancillary facilities, and other cement manufacturing and supply related considerations on behalf of the 2005 post Saddam Coalition Provisional Authorities.
 
Preliminary Feasibility Study
Box International conducted a Preliminary Feasibility Study in 2004 regarding Iraq’s cement sector to identify potential cement market opportunities on behalf of a private investor group. Box traveled throughout Iraq to conduct the Study gaining access to port facilities, cement plants and related facilities, along with assessing cement market conditions, transportation, distribution logistics, supply and deliverability of imported cement, marine terminal considerations and security along with preliminary evaluations of coal mining capacity, power, and transportation logistics.
 
Preliminary Feasibility Study
In 2003, Box International conducted a Preliminary Assessment of the cement sector in Afghanistan traveling to the capital city of Kabul then to Jabel e Shiraz Cement Plant located in Parwan Province. The Study included site visits and plant assessments of the Gori I and Gori II Cement Plants and coal mines located in Pul e Khomri, Afghanistan, the first site visit by outsiders to the locations since the Soviet Union occupation in 1979. The Preliminary Assessment included a report of road and transportation conditions over the Hindu Kush via the Salang Tunnel through the Panshir Valley, cement demand, market conditions and other considerations.
